What we collect
- Account details, such as your email address, display name, password hash, sign-in provider and preferences.
- Game activity, including answers, conviction percentage, decision time, streaks, achievements, rooms and feed preferences.
- Content you submit, including questions, comments, reactions, votes and reports.
- Technical information needed to deliver and protect the service, such as session identifiers, device or browser information, IP address and server logs.
You can play as a guest. A random guest account and session are created so votes and game progress work correctly.
Why we use it
We process account and game data to provide the service you request and administer your account.
We also use limited activity and technical data for our legitimate interests in preventing abuse, measuring question quality, improving recommendations and keeping the service reliable. Feed suggestions may use what you answer, how strongly you answer and how long you take. This does not make legal or similarly significant decisions about you.
If we introduce optional marketing, analytics or advertising that requires consent, we will ask first and provide a way to withdraw it.
Who receives data
We use service providers that help host, secure and operate the app and database. They process data only to provide those services. If you choose Google, Apple or Facebook sign-in, that provider processes the sign-in under its own privacy notice and sends us an account identifier and available profile details.
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards.
How long we keep it
We keep account and activity data while your account is active and for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations. Session records expire after 30 days. Deleting your account removes the link between you and your votes; aggregate vote totals remain so public results still work. Residual backup copies may remain until the normal backup cycle completes.
Your choices and rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, and to receive a portable copy of data you supplied. You can download answers and reset feed learning from Account → Security, or use the account deletion page to permanently delete your account. You can also email us.
You have the right to object to processing based on our legitimate interests. We will stop unless we have compelling legitimate grounds or need the data for legal claims.
If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
Safety and changes
Dark mode is for adults aged 18 and over. If you believe a child has provided personal data inappropriately, contact us so we can investigate. We may update this notice as the service changes and will publish the new effective date here.
